Our Orphanage

January 12, 2010, Haiti was struck with an earthquake 7.0 + magnitude, 250,000 people died almost instantly.

Please Help Me immediately started organizing a volunteer team of doctors, nurses, and anyone who would join us to travel to Haiti with essential supplies to help wherever we could. During our time there our Vice President and Co-Founder, Asmick Jean Jacques, noticed how many children were roaming the streets, some who’s family / parents had just died, and others who were orphans prior to the earthquake. Feeling helpless, his heart was broken by the volume of orphans as young as 3 years old, sleeping in the streets and even sleeping at grave sites. Upon his return, Please Help Me (www.pleashelpme.ca) decided we would go back and help as many orphans as we could.

Over the past 13 years, we have grown from a dream into a thriving orphanage, providing a safe haven for up to 33 children. Our growth is tangible; having bought 8 acres of land, built 5 homes, added a solar powered well, a herd of 200 goats, a fish tank, and a bakery. Along with everything we’ve gathered, we constantly strive to enhance the lives of our children, who we love and know individually, and who have together become one large family. Our vision is to expand this family, aiming to double or even triple the number of children we support. The need for support is strong, with an estimated 250,000 orphans in Haiti alone. We invite you to make a meaningful difference in the lives of these children, by leaving your mark on L’arche Orphanage through your financial contributions and sharing your unique talents.
